Life Is Not Forever

Life is not forever!
By
Madhu Rajan

Life is not forever
We tend to forget
Though we see people
Die right and left

Procrastinating now to later.
Today, tomorrow, to day after.
Next week, next month, next year.
Post promotion, post superannuation

It goes on and on thus
And we, the most evolved
Intelligent specie don’t
Realize a simple truth

Our time is not unlimited
Strange though it may seem
We don't have an eternity
To accomplish what we dream

Every one comes to this world
With a return ticket in hand;
Return ticket with date,
   time column left blank.

It’s  not only that
Leave must we all
But leave at short notices
Or no notice at all

We ought to do deeds
That we wish done
Sooner than soonest
For we know not when
Our departure will be announced
And our names will get a prefix “Late”
Irrespective whether we departed

On time or before date!

Great poem and beautiful thoughts. We all know it but yet carry on as if we are here for eternity!
